It’s raining here. I guess that means summer is finally over, sadly. It’s getting colder here too, and I’m seriously considering turning the heat on, at least in the mornings. I guess I shouldn’t complain considering it has been uncharacteristically hot here this summer. But I don’t care, I’m still complaining. It’s not even September yet, and the top temperature here right now is 11C. Sonofabitch.

So, Eugene (my brother for those of you who don’t know) came to visit me on Monday. Him and his friend Bruno were in Spain on one of those Contiki tours, and came to London after it was done. So, Monday afternoon, Shane and I went to pick them up at the airport. They were both so exhausted, and when we got back to the flat, they passed out on the couch. I woke them up for dinner, and after we ate, we watched Kindergarten Cop in honour of the Governator, Ahnuld.

Tuesday was a long day. We got up early and headed to Buckingham Palace for our tour of the state rooms. Damn, that queen knows how to live. Talk about luxurious. Walking through the rooms, I touched all the drapes and tapestries I could get my grubby hands on. Everything was silk and velvet. We got to sit in the room where the queen knights people, but of course, the seats were covered with slipcovers. They don’t want us plebes wrecking their posh seats. But we pulled up the seat covers to get a look at what was underneath. Damn, as Bruno (my brother’s friend) said, they live like kings there. When we left the palace, we even got to see the changing of the guard.

Afterward, we walked to Trafalgar Square, and then to Westminster, where we took pictures of Big Ben. Then it was off for lunch in Picadilly Circus. After we rested for a bit and ate, it was off to shop. Which we did, like champions. We went all over the place, and spent lots of money. Oh well, you only live once. After our tiring day of sightseeing and shopping, we went out for dinner in Covent Garden at a lovely French restaurant. Afterward, we went to the Haagen-Dazs café for dessert. It was so damn good, I’m definitely going back! As if that’s a surprise to anyone. Haha.

On Wednesday, we went on a tour of Chelsea stadium, since my brother and Bruno are huge soccer fans. After the tour, it was off to buy some memorabilia, and then rush back to the flat to pack and get to the airport.

On my way back, I almost fell asleep on the train, I was so tired. When I finally got home, I took a nap.

It was tiring, but I was glad to have them visit. I miss my stupid brother.

Talk to you soon,
S.
