It was with some horror that I realized the English accent no longer sounds foreign to me. To make matters worse, I now have a hard time distinguishing the North American accent from an English one. Yes, it’s true. I am slowly becoming one of them. Ugh.

Anyway, we finally paid a visit to the Canada store yesterday (we came upon it serendipitously as we were strolling through Covent Garden to celebrate our two-year anniversary – yay us). We were so happy to see remnants of home – Ziploc bags, peanut butter (the real kind, and not the ground peanut mush they sell here), Canadian chocolate bars (Coffee Crisp, Reese’s, Crispy Crunch, Turtles, Mr. Big, Oh Henry, and gross ones like Eat-More and Big Turk), real beer (Moosehead and Sleemans), Lipton Cup-A-Soup, Kraft dinner, Aunt Jemima’s pancake mix and syrup, and tons of other stuff. We bought some Ziploc bags, chocolate bars, and Cup-A-Soup. We’re planning on taking Kenny there when he visits – he can help us carry some Sleemans back home. :) The guy behind the counter thought we were retarded, getting so excited about Ziploc bags. But screw him. He probably has no idea what it’s like growing up using something so ingenious as Ziploc bags only to find that when you move to another country, it is so backwards as to not have it. Oh my god, I almost forgot: they also have real all-purpose flour, not the clumpy shit they sell here. I’m so excited, even though a 2.5kg bag of Robin Hood all-purpose flour is 8 pounds (20 bucks back home!!). I don’t care. It will be worth it. Oh, and I just found out that they deliver. Yes! This has become my favourite store in all of England, hands down.

We also found the Tintin shop here in London, but it pales in comparison to the Canada store. Okay, to be fair, they don’t exactly sell the same things. Still, the Tintin stores I’ve been to in France, Belgium and Switzerland kick this store’s ass. I mean, they don’t even have Tintin watches! Pathetic.
