It finally happened -- we joined a gym. Well, it's the Y, but still. The point is, we joined and we've actually gone a couple of times. I have to say, I'm more than a little impressed with us. Okay, so we haven't lost our extra pounds yet, but by the time we come home this summer, we'll be fit. Or, at least, we hope to be.

I haven't been to the gym on a semi-regular basis since second year, when Jessica and I decided to "get healthy" by exercising during those four-hour breaks in between class. Before that, I used to work out when I lived in Switzerland, and that was years ago. Anyway, since it's been so long, I kind of forgot about some of the posers who go to the gym (myself excluded, of course). Some people use going to the gym as an excuse to hit on people. Yeah, like I really want some overweight sweaty jackass trying to pick me up at the gym. Anyway, last night there was a chick on the treadmill wearing track pants, and a sports bra. That's it. Honestly, what is WRONG with people?

Anyway, so last night, after my ardous routine of rowing machine + stationary bike, I hit the sauna. But before I could go in, there was this athletic-type young woman coming out. She was half-dressed, and holding a half-filled bottle of water. She turns to me and goes, "Oh shit! I was supposed to PEE in that bottle!" I was like, "okaaay..." Did crazy stop there? No. Then she goes, "I really NEED to smoke a spliff, but I was supposed to pee in that bottle. But I REALLY need to smoke a spliff." I was like, "yeah, that's nice... " And then crazy spliff girl darted out of the sauna area. Weird.

Anyway, let me just say that I've been feeling pretty damn worried about all of you lately. I keep hearing about how the number of people infected with SARS is on the rise, and Canada is the worst-hit country outside of Asia. Of course, it doesn't help that my sister has been sent home from work, as have her coworkers, and students at my brother's school have been quarantined. Me, being the worrywart that I am, keeps wanting to send you all masks to wear, but I've been informed that you've all been asked not to wear them unless you're a cop, firefighter, doctor, or you've been infected. Scary. Let me know how you are doing, and what's going on over there.
