Okay, so in the past few weeks, I've realized something: I am Monica from Friends. I would rather spend my Saturday night cleaning my apartment than venturing out into this godforsaken town, or, as Nadia and I have dubbed it, the World's Toilet. Is it any wonder I prefer my clean little flat to the vomit-filled streets of London? I think not.
To be fair, I have always been a homebody. But since moving here, I am afraid I have become a bit of a domestic. I mean, given the choice of staying in and watching the latest (latest for me, anyway) episode of Buffy or Angel, or getting all dolled up to go out into central London, I'd choose the former. Going out in this city takes so much out of me. It takes at least 45 minutes to get into the city from where we live, because the transportation links suck. Then, you have to fight your way through the crowds of self-important assholes just to walk from the tube station to the bar. Of course, all these jerks are already ten sheets to the wind by the time we go anywhere, because we choose to go out after dinner, and they go to the pub straight after work. I swear, I have never seen a people so intent on getting shit-faced every night. But I digress. So, after pushing through crowds to get to a bar, you pay exorbitant prices for a beer, and have to drink up quickly, because last call is at 11 pm. Of course, drinking in the streets is legal in this country, so you can take you drink with you at the end of the night. Then, you try to head home. Of course, by this time the streets are filled with drunks, who are, I kid you not, vomiting and urinating everywhere and anywhere they can. Disgusting. The tube stops running a little past midnight, so you have to bust your ass to make it home before 1 am. Or, you can take the night bus, and you all know how much I would rather have a root canal. Anyway, so the whole night is a hassle, and for what? To say that I have a nightlife in London? No thanks. I would rather stay home, where the only drunken punk I encounter is Dingman! hahaha. Besides, nothing makes me feel better than having a spotless apartment. See, I am Monica from Friends.
