Sunday was crazy. We rented (or hired as they would say in this town) a car to go to Stonehenge with Nadia, who is visiting me for a couple of weeks. Anyway, I arranged for us to have "exclusive" access to the site, which meant that we had to be there before it opened at 9 am. That meant that we had to leave our flat at 5 am Sunday morning just to get to Stonehenge by 8 am. Of course, we got lost on the way out of town. It took about an hour to find the damn highway -- seriously. I thought Shane was going to kill someone, he was so frustrated. Anyway, once we hit the motorway, it was smooth sailing. We got to Stonehenge in record time, and the guard let us in early, which was cool. So, the three of us stood in the circle of Stonehenge all by ourselves. We took lots of pictures, and we will show them to you once they've been developed. Anyway, after about 30 minutes, the novelty of the rocks wore off. So Shane pocketed a piece of one of them, and we were on our way. Of course, since we were there so early, the giftshop was closed. We decided to come back to it a little later, and headed to the town of Salisbury. The town of Salisbury is famous for its cathedral, but it creeped me out big time. Inside, all along the floor are graves. I was walking funny lines just to avoid walking over all these graves. It was very strange.

We drove back to Stonehenge and spent some time in the giftshop. Then, it was off to Bath, which was about 30 minutes away. We got lost on the way -- again -- but finally made it into the city around 2 pm. We found a place to park the car, and headed into the city. We visited the Roman Baths, some glass shops, the costume museum, and, the best place ever, the Cadbury Store, where we had ice cream. Why they don't have places like this back home I'll never know. I would be their best customer. Anyway, we started to head back to London sometime around 6 pm, a full 13 hours after our road trip began. Of course, because this country is retarded and the signs are all fucked up, we got lost again. We finally made it back into town around 8:30 pm, and went to return the car. And then the nightmare began. What was supposed to be a 40-minute trip home took almost an hour and a half. First, our train was out of service for repairs, and was being replaced with a crappy bus service. So we decided to take the longer way home and hop on the tube. Of course, most of the lines we could have taken were shut down for some reason or another. No matter how often this happens, I'm still not used to it. What kind of a city can claim to be cosmopolitan and worldly when its transportation system sucks ass? Anyway, we finally made it to a station where we could catch the final train home, except of course, the train we needed to take had been cancelled. By this point, we were all ready to kill someone. So, we decided to take a cab. We finally made it home by 11 pm. It was a long day.

Monday, Nadia and I went on a double decker bus tour. It was kind of cold sitting atop the open topped bus, but we're Canadian, and stuck it out. The best part of the day was making fun of all the jerkass Americans on the bus with us. I swear, they just stick out so much. Maybe it's their holier-than-thou attitude... Anyway, at the end of the day, we saw these two reggies attempt to visit the London Dungeons. Of course, it was after 5 pm and the site was closed. The big doors were closed, and padlocked, yet these two winners just kept moving from one set of doors to the other and trying to pull them open. Morons.

Tuesday we went shopping after I wasted my morning at the Italian consulate in the vain attempt to renew my passport. More on that another time; I get tired just thinking about it.

Anyway, Shane left this morning for home. Hopefully he'll bring me back some presents. ;)
